Rare Pre-War 1937 Dated Royal Dutch Navy Mauser Banner Contract Luger Pistol Rig

This is a very fine example of a very rare late variation 2 Royal Dutch Navy Contract Mauser Banner P.08 Luger manufactured in 1937. These early Mauser Banner Dutch contract Lugers (made 1930-1939) were all issued to the Royal Dutch Navy with those made after 1936 having the Mauser Banner as in this example. There were approximately 525 made in this variation. The chamber is dated 1937 with the standard Mauser Banner logo on the front toggle and the left side of the barrel extension stamped with Commercial "Crown/U" proof. These Dutch Luger all have their extractor marked "GELADEN" on both sides with "RUST" marked in the upper safety area of the frame. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number of (2180) stamped on the front of the frame, underside of the barrel and the left side of the barrel extension. The last two digits "80" stamped on the various small parts. This Luger is fitted with two matching all blue unmarked magazine with a wooden bases. The bases are marked "2180" and "2180/+". This rig is complete with an unmarked black leather holster that has the additional flap over the takedown tool pouch and small pouch for the take down pin, (both missing), similar to the 1933/34 style Police holster. Additionally this scarce holster also has the correct small brass property/number tag (stamped 5) attached to the upper front edge of the holster directly under the flap.

Manufucture: Mauser
Model: P08
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Guage: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 2180

Very fine with 80% of the faded original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall. The small parts retain 50% of their straw colors. The grips are very fine with nice original, sharp checkering and only a couple of minor flat spots on the left grip from where the rivets that hold on the brass property tag have hit the grip. This scarce example has all matching numbers to include both magazines. A nice example of a scarce Dutch Navy Luger Rig.
