Pre-Stamp Cover, Paid Cover, 12 Annas, 1839, Madras to Calcutta, endorsed ‘Paid’ (handwritten), Dispatched from MADRAS having a three-line Red rectangular seal that reads as “MADRAS | 1839 October 19 | PAID 12As”, value hand endorsed, addressed to ‘THOMSON RICHARDS ESQ | KIND CARE D. HUFFNAGLE | MESSRS ADAM GIER SMITH & Co. | CALCUTTA’, the letter arrived at the destination Calcutta and bears a delivery stamp in Red ink as "G.P.O | 1839 Oct 30" and a small Red square seal “PM”, Renouf # type 80, Giles # Types 19 & G.14, excellent condition, Rare.
