Woman's Suffrage: A Rare Portrait Badge Active Ohio Suffragette Kate B. Sherwood Kate B. Sherwood was a nationally known figure in women's organizations during the late 19th century. She was one of the organizers of the Women's Relief Corp. of the GAR of which she was the second National President. She also served as editor of the women's department for the organizations official organ, the National Tribune from 1893-1898. Although she did not hold office in specifically suffrage organizations, contemporary biographies describe her as a "free thinker" and "active suffragette". She died Feb. 15, 1915 in Ohio, but her funeral service was held in Washington D.C., a testimonial to her national prominence. This distinctive badge features a mint 1.25" celluloid set into a rosette-type frame with original pin on reverse. Overall diameter: 2.5".

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)
