Signed with the family name, "Zhu", this beautiful dried fruit container dates to the 1880's. At one time, this type of container was common in China but now has become very rare. It depicts various domestic and symbolic scenes of plentitude and prosperity. This piece is from Zhejiang in the Fujian Province and is made of fir. It is in excellent condition with only a small amount of the paint chipped. It measures approx. 18" in height and approx. 12.5" in width. The colors are marvelous shades of cream and black with splashes of green and red! This is one of the rarest pieces we have ever had. Most are made of bamboo rather than fir.
