Manufactured in 1903. The top of the barrel has the two line Hartford address and left side of barrel is marked "COLT. D.A. 38". The left side of the frame has the number "0142" stamped over the three line patent date marking next to a circled Rampant Colt. The back strap has the Pacific Express Co. marking: "PAC. EX. CO. 149049". Matching serial number (has been punched) on barrel, trigger guard, and back strap. Fitted with checkered Rampant Colt emboss hard rubber grips. The Pacific Express Co. operated as a regional private mail company mainly west of the Mississippi until 1911 with Wells Fargo & Co. acquired its routes.

Condition: Very good. The revolver has a smooth brown patina with traces of original blue finish in the protected areas and heavier amounts of blue on the trigger guard. The grips are fair. The left panel has some high edge wear and a few minor handling marks. The right panel has heavily worn checkering with numerous minor handling marks near the bottom. Action needs work as the hammer does not also release when action is cycled.
