Offered in this lot is a Rare Original Newsboys Cabinet Card of C. H. Hopper, circa 1896. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. "Newsboy" cabinet cards were given away as ‘premiums’, by tobacconists or drug stores, when making a purchase of plug tobacco produced by the National Tobacco Works of New York. Mostly actresses but including actors, celebrities, and scenes. Hopper was the lead in the original Broadway production of "Chimmie Fadden" in 1896. The cabinet card displays Hopper dressed as a waiter holding a drink tray. His personal greeting to the right of his foot, "Yours truly Chas. H. Hopper 'Chimmie Fadden'". "Newsboy NEW YORK" stamped along the bottom border in red. The cream coloured cabinet card is in preserved condition in clear protective sleeve, exhibits age tanning consistent with age. Cabinet card measures 4.25"W x 6.5"L, sleeve is 5.875"W x 7.25"L, combined weight is U6.
