<td width="100%">
A fine original painting by Takuji Nakamura, depicting a male figure caring an umbrella and a sake bottle. We date this work to ca.1925. Dimensions are for the painting approximately 13" tall by 6.5" wide, (with frame 17" tall by 11" wide). Nakamura Takuji, (written with surname first), was born in 1897. He was a western-style painter. Born in Fukuoka-ken and worked in Kamakura. He graduated from the prestigious Tokyo University. He was an exhibitor at the Nikakai and the Tokyo Biennial. He is a member of the Issuikai and the Nitten. In 1953, he received the Education Minister's Prize for Fostering the Arts. His figurative paintings are done in a strong and simplified manner. This painting done in natural Japanese watercolors, depicts a man holding an unbrella and a sake bottle. The painting is signed in the lower right corner as T. Nakamura. The painting was made on what appears to be medium weight mulberry paper and is framed in a handmade wood frame that is consistent with our dating of the painting. There are 5 known Nakamura Takuji paintings exhibited in the National Museum in Tokyo, Japan. Condition consensus is extra fine condition and without injury or repair. The paper has a mild cream-beige tone.
