<td width="100%">
A fine neolithic Hongshan Culture jade bi (ring), ca. 3600B.C.-3000B.C.. Dimensions are 2-5/8" diameter, 3/8" thick. The bi was carved from a piece of black jade. The shape is a flatten round disk with a hole bore through the center. There are a series of carved recessed rings on both sides. The bi exhibits a beautiful golden/amber colored calification, formed primarily within these recessed rings. The color constrast of the golden flecks against the deep black of the bi is absolutely stunning. The Chinese call this calcification baojing and it is a verifiable diagnostic of great age. The jade bi weighs 62 grams. This would make a fantastic pendant too by simply attaching a black beaded/unbeaded cord.
