Founded in 1933 as a subset of the Sonderpolizei, and later absorbed by the SS, the Postschutz was responsible for providing physical security for the German Post Office, which was the controlling organization for mail, television, telephone and radio operations in the Reich. In 1939, the Postschutz-dolch was developed and authorized for wear by subordinates up to Senior NCOs. 9 5/8" double edged spear point blade, with the Paul Weyersburg (Solingen) marking on the left ricasso. Nickel finished pommel and guard, with the latter shaped like a spread winged eagle with a black swastika on its chest, and the smooth black grip is marked with the Post Office logo. The underside of the guard is marked "193 DRP". Black enamel painted sheath, with nickel throat, tip, suspension band and chain belt hanger.
