Rare Nagoya Arsenal Arisaka Model 38 Folding Stock Carbine
This is a very rare example of the type 38 folding stock carbine. These are a very scarce carbine as they were produced by pulling standard type 38 carbines from production and modifying them at the Nagoya factory. They were produced as series 4 and 5 carbines of which this is correctly a series 5 carbine. This carbine was manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal and it has the Chrysanthemum (partially ground) and Kanji markings on top of the receiver and the side of the receiver is marked with the Nagoya Arsenal mark, the series 5 mark. Inverted "V" front sight with guards, folding rear sight graduated to 2000 yards, the bolt has the plum shaped handle, a checkered/knurled safety and a bayonet lug. The stock has been correctly modified and fitted with a hinge at the wrist, with a single locking bar and wing nut on the left side, finger grooves, sling swivels, and a smooth metal butt plate.

Fine with approximately 70% of the finish remaining. The stock is good, the wrist has been repaired at the hinge, and needs an update repair as it is loose from years of wear and the hinge latch needs proper nut to stay together. Some wood chipped and absent. Scattered usage dents and marks.
