Rare Mauser Stoeger Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, #265V, 7.65mm (.30 Luger cal.), 6'' barrel, blue finish with straw small parts, checkered walnut grips, with one nickel-plated wraparound magazine marked ''Germany'', in an unnumbered combination shoulder stock/leather holster marked ''Germany'' on back side of walnut stock, with shoulder strap, brown leather magazine pouch with two unmarked period magazines, barrel head cleaning rod, and combination tool. Right side of receiver marked ''Germany'' just to the left of two-line ''A.F. Stoeger, Inc./New York'' address; right flat rail of frame marked ''Genuine Luger - Registered U.S. Patent Office''. Thumb safety marked ''Safe''; extractor marked ''Loaded''; toggle marked ''DWM''. Pistol shows multiple crown-''N'' proofs. Barrel is unnumbered and may have been added by Stoeger on a special order request. Early ''V'' series production indicates Mauser production from DWM parts. As pictured on page 135 of ''The Luger Pi!
stol'', by Datig. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 96% lightly thinning and slightly toning rust blue. Checkered walnut grips show only the slightest flattening. Action is crisp, bore is bright. Combination shoulder stock/holster are typical of 1930s commercial mfg., with bright brass studs, attaching iron with light added rust blue, and attaching screws appear to have been restored. Holster shows light scuffs and crazing, but stitches remain tight showing no evidence of dye or colored polish. (Some leather components may be more modern replacements). A very scarce early Mauser mfg.'d commercial Luger pistol rig with desirable features. Est.: $7,500-$10,000.
