Rare Mauser Humpback Semi-Automatic Pistol with Weltkrieg 1914-16 Wilh. Kaiser Inscription and Hol
This very early production Mauser Model 1914 has the "humpback" slide which was found on this model up to around serial number 2500, at which time the hump was eliminated. The serial number is marked on the left front of the slide, "Waffenfabrik Mauser A.G. / Oberndorf a, N. / Mauser's Patent" at the rear and the Mauser banner is marked on the left side of the frame. The top of the slide behind the rear sight is marked with a "crown / crown / U" proofmark. The dished out portion of the right side of the frame is inscribed "Weltkrieg 1914-16 / With Kaiser". Fixed sights, blue finish with niter blue trigger and fitted with one piece checkered wrap around grips. Complete with an original unmarked brown leather flap holster and extra magazine.
BBL: 3 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 7.65 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 1815
Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 90% of the slightly faded original finish with some wear on the muzzle, scattered minor thinning and high edge wear. The front strap shows some minor spotting and very minor pitting. The trigger retains most of the bright original niter blue finish on the sides and the face has a smooth gray. The grips are very good with moderate overall wear and a few minor dents and dings. The markings and inscription remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is about good with a couple of small minor slits in the flap, overall moderate to heavy wear and with the exception of a very small area on the flap, tight stitching. A very nice example of an inscribed Model 1914 "humpback" Mauser pistol.
