This carbine features a fixed front blade sight and a folding leaf adjustable rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "Marlin Firearms Co, NEW - HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / PAT'D OCT. 11, 1887. APRIL. 2, 1889. AUG. 1, 1893." and the left side of the barrel is marked "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL". The barrel is also marked "30-30" at the breech end. Casehardened lever and receiver. The carbine has a barrel band ahead of the front sight. The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY". This carbine was special ordered with sling swivels and therefore the saddle ring was omitted at the factory. The upper tang is marked "Marlin/ MODEL 93" and is drilled and tapped for tang mounted sights. The serial number "C2231" is marked on the lower tang. Mounted with a plain forearm and straight grip stock with a steel buttplate. The carbine includes a letter from the Marlin Firearms Co. that states "it is my firm belief that your barrel is original to the rest of the rifle". The letter also confirms "that a total of only 61 Model 93 trappers with 15 inch barrels were ever made.".

Very fine. The barrel and tubular magazine retain 90% plus original blue finish with a few nicks and light scratches scattered overall. The magazine also shows a moderate scratch running from the forearm to the front barrel band. Both barrel bands show some scattered pitting. The receiver shows shadows of the original case colors with stronger colors in the protected areas and a smooth gray/brown patina overall. The wood is fine with a few dings and scratches overall. Mechanically excellent.
