Marilyn Monroe signed and inscribed copy of the original novel that inspired the film, ''Gentleman Prefer Blondes.'' Grosset & Dunlap: New York: 1926. Written by Anita Loos, the novel was adapted first to the stage and then for the screen in 1953, starring Monroe and Jane Russell. It featured one of the most memorable scenes ever captured on celluloid as Monroe sang ''Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend'' in her iconic pink dress. Monroe signs and inscribes the book to 1950's child actress Linda Bennett on the half-title page, ''To Linda / Love & Kisses / Marilyn Monroe.'' Book measures 5.5'' x 7.5''. Prior owner's notation to front free endpaper, vertical slash to red fabric backstrip and wear to boards and dustjacket, otherwise in very good condition. Directly obtained from Bonham's Auctions. Recently sold for $5,250 as lot 3217 in Bonhams 5 May 2013 sale.
