Rare Lincoln Campaign Broadside
Rare Lincoln Campaign Broadside for 200,000 Black Soldiers in the Union Army. Measures 11.75" x 9.25", medium, even toning, marginal fold splits, wrinkling and soiling along right edge, otherwise excellent. This broadside includes text of an interview of Lincoln by J.T. Mills, in which Lincoln refutes the reconciliation strategy of McClellan, who called for the reinstatement of slavery. Lincoln points out that there were 200,000 black soldiers in the Union Army that were needed to crush the Confederates. Included is a short letter from General Grant pointing out the weakness of the Confederate Army and the fallacy of "peace at any price" and a poem by Bayard Taylor entitled "On The Chicago Surrender." This is the first we have ever handled of this rare broadside.
