Rare J. Henry Model 1807-1808 contract flintlock pistol in .54 caliber with 10” barrel showing U.S. marking at center portion of lock and also J. Henry, Philadelphia marking at the rear. The barrel is also marked J. Henry Philadelphia with a CT and Eagle in an oval proof indicating made on contract. The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with correct hammer and small parts other than frizzen spring which is an old replacement probably during use. The metalsurfaces show a dark brown patina, scattered rust and erosion along with some light to moderate pitting. The stock is in very good plus condition showing some small marks, opening-round the barrel pins and just minor imperfections and aging (Note minor compression crack between the trigger guard and rear ramrod thimble). The brass shows a nice patina with a correct style wooden ramrod and metal tip which is included. There is a trace of a cartouche above the trigger which the last letter is “S”.
