Manufacturer: Italian Model: Blunderbuss
This Blunderbuss is absent of any makers markings and appears to be Italian in origin. The breech end of the barrel is marked with four unrecognizable makers make/proof marks that were gold inlaid. The barrel has an elliptical muzzle which measures 1 1/2 inches across. The full stock is hinged at the wrist with a push button release on top of the wrist and hinged on the underside. This is a period modification. The stock has decorative floral relief carving and chiseled steel mountings which include a decorative left side plate, trigger guard finial and ramrod pipe. Each is sculpted with scroll designs. The 4 1/4 inch buttplate tang has the same decorative designs. Complete with a brass tipped wooden ramrod. These weapons in Italy are nicknamed Wolfkillers" which refers to a small concealable weapon.

Very good. The metal surfaces have mottled gray and silver gray patina. The stock is fine with a few scattered minor dents and dings. The stock has some play in it, but remains solid. The carving and chiseling remain crisp. The action is fine. Writer cannot recall ever offering a blunderbuss quite like this. Very rare indeed!
