Rare Original Hopi Silkscreen by well known Native American artist Kyrat Tuvahoema 1914-1942, ''Niman Kachina and Mate'', signed in lower righthand corner Tuvahoema and copyright symbol, he was known for his depictions of katsinas that were ''tall and lean, but with good detail and color in costume, mask, and paraphernalia.'' (Southwest Indian Painting: A Changing Art, by Clara Lee Tanner), Kyrat Tuvahoema was born on the mesa of Old Oraibe in the heart of Hopi country in 1914. He attended day school until he transferred to Albuquerque Indian School in 1927. He then attended the Santa Fe Indian Art department during 1933-1935. His paintings were limited in number because he contracted tuberculosis shortly after leaving school, and spent much of the remainder of his life in various sanitariums in Arizona.
