Rare Heineke Patent Firing Fish Hook
Used for a unique method of fishing, this is a firing mechanism entirely encased in a fishing hook with the trigger mechanism mounted in the eye. When the fish bites the hook and gives it a sudden jerk, the line is pulled, thereby releasing the firing pin to strike the cartridge. The discharged cartridge thus kills or stuns the fish. The hook is marked "H. HEINEKE / U.S. PAT. 2253125". The barrel unscrews and a nearly 2 inch long hook is forged at the muzzle. Full length is 3 3/4 inches. Manufactured circa 1941.
