Manufactured in 1953. This revolver is factory class "A" floral scroll engraved with a matte background and gold plated. The engraving covers the frame sides, breech end of the barrel on the sides, rear top of the frame and cylinder flats. A factory letter does not accompany the revolver, however the consignor reports that this revolver was shipped to Rex Firearms in New York who was Smith & Wesson's exclusive distributor of engraved guns in the 1950s. The barrel and frame have the standard markings. Four screw frame with the upper side plate screw, the cylinder release is the flat serrated style, the grip safety is serrated and the trigger is casehardened. Pinned barrel, serrated front ramp sight and square notch rear sight. Fitted with smooth rosewood grips with silver S&W medallions. Complete with a high gloss finished rosewood case with green lining.

Condition:
Excellent. The revolver retains 98% of the original gold plating with wear limited to the muzzle and some high edges. There is a drag line on the cylinder. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks. The engraving and markings are sharp. The action is excellent. The case is excellent with a couple of light scratches on the exterior and only faint wear on the lining. The support for the barrel is broken, but held in place by the lining.
