Ghiyath-ud-din-Tughluq sent his eldest son Ulugh Khan (who later
became Muhammad bin Tughluq) in
1321 AD to Deogir to plunder the Hindu kingdoms of Arangal (known as Warangal
today) and Tilang (now part of Telangana). His first attempt was failure but
after four months when Ghiyath-ul-din-Tughluq sent large army for his son
asking him to attempt plundering Arangal and Tilang again then at this time he
succeeded and Arangal fell to the Sultans of Delhi. Arangal was given a new
name Sultanpur all the captured wealth and treasury were transferred from this
captured kingdom to Delhi Sultanate. And from here on Sheher Sultanpur became
an important part of this Sultanate.
