Rare Fur Trader & Indians 3-Pc. Girandole Set, 19th century item. Made of brass on marble bases, with glass prisms, the centerpiece measures 15 3/4" x 17", the other pieces measure 6 1/2" x 15 3/4". American, unmarked. The centerpiece of this fantastic set appears to depict a fur trader figure and Native American figure seated alongside one another, with another standing Native American figure behind. Two proud, Native American figures with spears flank the centerpiece of this girandole set. Fancy work throughout on heavy, marble bases. Two similar items which were marked Cornelius & Co. of Philadelphia, sold at auction at Blue Dolphin Antiques in 2005, and another at Case Antiques in 2011. Those marked pieces appear to have had more gilding remaining than this piece offered, or that this piece is older, and claim the piece is stylized in the "Daniel Boone" pattern. One sale realized 5500.00 USD. Condition: Good, some prisms need to be fixed, heavy patina, see images. Shipping: $100.00 USA estimate only, due to size, weight, and value. Buyer pays exact shipping plus packaging. Local pick-up available.
