According to the factory records (photocopy included) this rifle was shipped from the warehouse on 30 July 1888, as a 45-90 caliber rifle with a 32" extra heavy octagon barrel. Also noted in the records is a weight of 15 pounds. German silver blade front and semi-buckhorn rear sights, with the two-line address on the top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight and "45-90 W.C.F." behind. The barrel measures approximately 1 1/5" in diameter across the flats, coming up slightly over the top of the receiver, which has the "-MODEL 1886-" marking on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower. A pair of ferrule, are factory installed to support the magazine, with a steel forearm tip and a crescent buttplate. Reportedly, the heaviest Model 1886 ever produced.

Condition: Very good, showing a mixed brown patina overall, with bright gray wear along the high edges, traces of original blue in the protected areas, and scattered spotting. The receiver shows a mixed gray and brown patina with 70% faded original blue present on the breech bolt. Stock is good, with some damage to the forearm tip screw, a few cracks in the wrist, and scattered dents. Mechanically functions fine, but internal lever toggle pin is a crude period replacement.
