Rare European Brevet of Colt Baby Dragoon, serial number 1 in .31 caliber percussion pictured in the Brevet book by Marco and Paxson. This revolver shows a bright original finish and appears to have never been blued. The cylinder is engraved andinscribed “Colt’s Patent” in script. The metal surfaces are very good plus to near fine showing just some minor normal aging. The cylinder is engraved with an Indian fighting scene similar to early Colts. The varnished wood grips are good tovery good with some small nicks, mars and a minor loss at the left toe. The action is good and the edges are crisp and sharp. Samuel Colt was paid a licensing fee by European makers and made many trips to Europe to negotiate contracts andagreements. It is completely possible that he would’ve had some personal involvement in this early manufactured baby Dragoon that shows no proof marks indicating it was never sold on the commercial market in Europe.
