Rare Engraved and Gold Inlaid Belgian Browning Superposed Presentation Grade P-1K Shotgun

This example was manufactured in 1979. There is a chart on page 415 of the book "The Browning Superposed: John M. Browning's Last Legacy" that shows that only 117 Grade P1 12 gauge Lightning shotguns were manufactured. This example has a blue receiver and gold inlays which make it even more rare. Both sides of the receiver have two gold inlaid relief engraved ducks flying over a marsh. There is an oak leaf and acorn pattern that surrounds the game scenes and is also on the break lever, barrel shoulders, sides of the forearm hardware, on the bottom of the receiver and on the trigger guard. There is also some floral scroll engraving on the aforementioned components. The barrels have a single nickel bead front sight, are choked modified/full and have 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. Fitted with a tang mounted safety/selector switch. Mounted on a nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a Browning branded recoil pad. 2 3/4 inch chambers, bore diameter: O- .722 U- .721, bore constriction: O- .036 U- .019, min. bbl thickness: O- .040 U- .035, length of pull: 14 1/4 inches, drop at comb: 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel: 2 1/2 inches, cast-on: 1/8 inches, weight: 7lbs 1oz.

Excellent, 99% of the original blue finish remains with some scattered minor handling/storage marks and wear. The engraving remains sharp and clear. The wood is very good with some scattered minor scratches and dings along with a replacement recoil pad. Mechanically excellent.
