Rare Early Walther Second Zero Series P38 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Matching Magazine

The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner followed by "P.38" and the serial number. The matching serial number is also found on the left side of the frame and front of the barrel lug. The right side of the slide is marked with two "Eagle/359" proofs flanking the Nazi firing proof. The left side of the slide also has what appears to be a Russian capture marking, the letter "X" above the serial number. The "Eagle/359" proof is repeated on the left side of the frame and most of the parts. The left side of the barrel lug is marked with the bore diameter "8,84". The checkered grips are stamped with the early military "480" code marking and single "Eagle/359" proofs. This 480 code was only used by Walther from mid 1940 through October 1940 and was rarely found on Zero Series pistols. The grips are also numbered to the gun. The magazine is numbered to the gun and has two "Eagle/359" proofs on the spine.

Very good as refinished. The pistol retains 85% of the Arsenal/Importer applied blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The replacement grips are fair with some minor handling marks and blemishes in the checkering. Slide does not lock when pulled back.
