Rare second edition 4-volume set of ''Memoir, Correspondence & Miscellanies From the Papers of Thomas Jefferson,'' published by Gray and Bowen: Boston: 1830 and G & C & H Carvill: New York: 1830. The content was edited by Jefferson's grandson, who included the full text of the Declaration of Independence in the first volume. All volumes are rebound; volumes 1-3 are bound in brown leather, measuring 5.75'' x 8.75''. Volume 4 is also bound in brown leather but is slightly larger at 5.75'' x 9.25''. Prior owners' name is inscribed to the front pastedown and half title page of all 4. Foxing and toning to the leaves, with minor surface abrasions to boards and cracking to hinges, else near fine given age. A direct and intimate glimpse into the life of Jefferson through his own writings.
