Rare and Desirable Borchardt Model 1893 Semi-Automatic Pistol, with case and accessories, #680, 7.62x25mm Borchardt, 7-1/2'' barrel, blue finish with straw and niter-blue small parts, finely checkered walnut grips with smooth border, right side of frame is marked with 1st Type ''System Borchardt.Patent.'' markings; top of toggle marked ''D.R.P./No. 75837'' denoting patent; early chamber markings ''Waffen Fabrik/Loewe/Berlin.'' In case with two original matching factory magazines (3 total), and one additional non-matching magazine, as well as original screwdriver, cheekpiece, lubricating tin, magazine hold-open device/oiler, with walnut shoulder stock/combination holster. This early production variant was mfg'd by Ludwig-Loewe prior to their merge with DRP and later becoming DWM. Considered the first successful commercial semi-automatic pistol and quite rare with approx. 3000 mfg'd and only the first 1000 by Loewe. The fitted case additionally holds original brushes,!
screwdriver tips and brass cleaning rod, as well as both English and Spanish original factory manuals. Condition is excellent with small areas of additionally added factory type rust blue. (These areas are near the mainspring housing and are almost imperceptible.) Grips with mild flattening to checks and only the lightest pressure dings. Action functions as designed, bore remains bright. Original case shows repairs and re-dyeing. Leather holster with much of its original tanning, but with losses to stitching just forward of triggerguard beneath the breach area of barrel. An excellent example of an early production Borchardt, complete with all of its important accessories present. Est.: $20,000-$40,000.
