Rare and Desirable Borchardt Model 1893 Semi-Automatic Pistol, by Loewe, with case and accessories, #557, 7.62x25mm Borchardt cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, blue finish, straw and niter-blue small parts, finely checkered walnut grips with smooth borders. Right side of frame is marked ''System Borchardt.Patent.''; top of toggle marked ''D.R.P./No. 75837'' denoting patent; chamber area marked ''Waffenfabrik/Loewe/Berlin''. In case with combination shoulder stock/holster, as well as screwdriver, cheekpiece, magazine hold-open device/oiler, sling, and one extra magazine. This early production variant was mfg'd by Ludwig Loewe, who are responsible for the first approx. 1000 of the 3000 produced. Condition is excellent with thinning to niter-blue small parts. Grips with very minor flattening to checks and only the lightest pressure dings. Magazine hold-open device, combination oiler, cleaning rod and screwdriver appear to be contemporary replacements. Action functions as designed, bore remains bright. Original case shows scuffs, minor losses and repairs, and may have been re-lined at a later date. Leather holster with moderate crazing and general wear. An excellent example of an early successful semi-automatic pistol in one of its earliest forms. Est.: $27,500-$32,500. (Antique)
