Rare Deluxe Colt Lightning medium frame pump rifle, .38 cal., 26” round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered wood stocks, oval presentation disc on underside of butt stock inscribed “John H. McWall”, #20003.This gun is in overall very good to fine condition showing approx. 90% original muted blue finish on barrel, brown patina to loading tube, frame has gone to a silvery color with sharp markings, fine bore andcrisp action, Lyman-type adjustable fold down rear sight, wood stocks show fancy graining with fine fore stock and very good butt stock showing deluxe checkering at the wrist including on the bottom of the pistol grip;some spots of compression to the checkering and scattered marring and scratches on the butt stock from carry and storage; early trigger guard safety variation. Consecutive number to the previous lot (Lot 153) which is also a deluxe model. Further research should be done to determine the identity of the inscription as this would have been a very expensive rifle at its time of manufacture (circa late 1886). Est.:
