Rare Deluxe Colt Lightning Carbine with Half Blue Half Nickel Finish with Factory Letter

This exceptional carbine was manufactured in 1888 and is accompanied by a Colt factory letter dated, January 2013. The desirable feature of this beautiful carbine is that it has the very rare half blue/half nickel finish. The barrel and magazine tube have the original Colt blue finish while the complete action, (receiver, lower tang, bolt assembly and some internal parts) all have the Colt nickel plated finish. The barrel is marked with the Colt factory two-line address and patent dates, with the rear of the barrel marked "32 Cal." It is fitted with the factory carbine front sight with the folding rear sight marked from 2-9, (200-900 yards). The left side of the nickel plated receiver has the large Rampant Colt logo with the serial number on the lower tang. It has a beautiful walnut slide handle with excellent factory checkering on both sides and a straight grip walnut stock with a nickel plated crescent buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies that this carbine was manufactured in 1888, the actual records verifying the overall configuration were lost or destroyed. However in looking at this beautiful little carbine there is no doubt that it is all factory original.

Extremely fine with 97% of the blue finish and 90% of the untouched "frosted" original nickel finish remaining, showing some very minor flaking/wear on the edges and high spots on the sides of the receiver, the underside of the receiver, front edge of the trigger guard bow and edges/sides of the buttplate. The stock and slide handle are both very fine with a nice original matching light brown varnished wood with only minor handling marks on the sides of the stock and a couple of minor pressure dents on the underside. The slide handle is in really nice condition showing original distinct and sharp checkering on both sides with only a couple of minor handling marks. A truly unique/rare early Colt Lightning Carbine in exceptional condition.
