Rare Colt SAA revolver, .450 Long Boxer cal., 7-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, wood grips, #22864 in overall very good + condition showing what appears to be a factory quality re-finish, crisp action, near fine bore, strong Hartford barreladdress, good frame serial #, partially visible Patent marking on left side of frame, partially visible “4” of serial # on trigger guard, # on backstrap not visible; very good grips; accompanied by three separate factory lettersdated July 16, 1962, a photo copy of a letter dated Feb. 12, 2004 and a letter dated Sept. 6, 2013, each confirming caliber and original finish with barrel length and stocks “Not Listed”; two letters indicate “Special Notation: “LongBarrel”; all three letters show Shipped to Colt’s London Agency, London, England on October 25, 1878, 30 guns of same type in shipment. The 1962 Colt letter was send to David M. Brown, author of The 36 Calibers of The Colt Single Action Army.Mr. Brown covers the .450 Boxer Long caliber on pages 48-51 of his book and reported this gun was found at an auction in Britain and at the time, not listed as a known SAA caliber (although Graham, Kopec and Moore opine “Long” in this
