Rare Colt First Model square-back Navy, .36 caliber percussion, with wedge over screw, serial #163. The revolver shows some light cleaning and draw filing, particularly on the cylinder to remove rust and a light coating of brown applied. The metal surfaces are generally good with evidence of pitting having been removed, and still some significant pitting on some areas of the cylinder, top of barrel, and rear frame. The rear of the barrel has been relieved or set back slightly to fit better on the pins. The markings are good and visible. Loading lever shows only number “1”, and there is no number visible on the cylinder (probably removed when cleaned). The grips are good, showing wear at the edges and light cleaning but no sanding, and fit impeccably. The action is good, the interior is good. An absolutely original first-model that has had some legitimate cleaning and small restoration. One of the rarest Colt percussions, one of only 700 to 1,000 estimated to have been produced. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries.
