Rare Colonial British Peace Pipe Tomahawk, mid 18th century. The blade of the peace pipe tomahawk is engraved with the Royal British crest and inscribed, "Dieu et Mon Droit", meaning, "God and my right". Additional inscription: "Huni soit Qui maly", meaning, "Shame on he who thinks evil of it". The opposite side displays an engraved lion with crown. Haft made of hickory with multiple pewter inlays down to an unusual carved end, blade end has an iron ball cap. Henry Timberlake, 1770s colonial Anglo-American officer, declared "This is one of their most useful pieces of field-furniture, serving all the offices of hatchet, pipe, and sword".
