Rare Chromolithograph of Osceola,
21" x 28" in period walnut frame. With 1838 copyright line of George Catlin, and repeated on boulder in lower left, with "Osceola of Florida. Drawn on Stone by George Catlin from His Original Portrait. New York. 1838." With an added inked inscription in lower right corner dated 1870 from Theodatus Garlick (1805-1884) an early Cleveland, Ohio daguerreotypist, and variously listed in city directories as a blacksmith, tombstone carver, surgeon, sculptor, photographer, antiquarian, and author on angling & fish breeder. Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay & Jared Kirtland supposedly posed for sculptures by Garlick. Some toning, center fold with some ink spots to left in background, 3" tear top center.
