Extremely rare puzzle jug from A.K. Truka Pottery, Chicago, Illinois, circa 1900's. The jug is made from redware clay and has a beautiful orange color with a glossy glaze. The jug is approximately a half gallon size, near the top of the jug are several small holes that would prevent the liquid to pour properly and would certainly cause a spill. The jug is incised under the glaze in scratch script handwriting "A.K.Truka/Northwestern Pottery/ 505 W. Kramer Ave./Chicago". According to the Directory of Clay Industries of Illinois A.K. Truka was listed in the 1907 Directory as a potter from Chicago, Illinois. H 8" W 6"
