Rare Centennial United States 25 Star Flag
Rare United States 25 Star Flag. This 25-star American flag was likely made for the Centennial celebrations of 1876. This large flag measures about 7'6" x 12'. The stars are muslin and hand sewn to the canton. The stars are arranged in a double wreath pattern with the addition of a star in each corner of the blue canton. The canton and stripes are made of polished cotton and are treadle sewn. The hoist end is devoid of any device for flying the flag. There are numerous tears and splits to the body of the flag and some age discoloration, but this is still an excellent example of a rare flag. The 25th star represents the addition of Arkansas to the United States. The 25 star flag was only in use from 1836 to 1837 when the admission of Michigan as a state added a 26th star.

Shipping: Large Collectibles (view shipping information)
