Rare Caspian Arms Model 1911A2 U.S. ARMY Semi-Automatic Pistol Prototype
The design for this pistol was developed by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) at Fort Benning, Georgia, as part of a test series initiated in response to a demand for 1911 style pistols by forces in the field who felt a need for greater firepower than the standard M9 pistol. Built using raw components from commercial manufacturers, each of the 1911A2s were fitted and customized by the AMUs in-house gunsmiths, integrating a number of high-end features. It has an unmarked Caspian slide with front and rear cocking serrations, and Novak adjustable rear and front sights with three-dot Trijicon night inserts. The left side of the Caspian frame is marked "MODEL OF 1911A2 U.S. ARMY" and the right side has one line address over the U.S. prototype (USPT) serial number followed by "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". The barrel is marked "STORM LAKE 45ACP" on top of the chamber. The frame has an integral underside rail for light/laser attachment and features a flat serrated trigger, checkered grip straps, elongated safeties, skeletonized hammer, magazine well extension, single stack "Shooting Star" magazine and black checkered grips.

Near new, showing a few dings on the well extension and light handling marks overall. Grips are equally excellent, and the arm is mechanically tight and crisp.
