William Saare, Co. A, 6th Regiment of the Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, known as The Iron Brigade. Saare served at Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, was wounded 1864 and promoted First Lieutenant in August 1862 for meritorious service at Gainesville and the 2nd Battle of Bull Run.
