Rare Blue Finish Remington Model 1875 Single Action Army Revolver

Also known as the Improved Army or Frontier Army, the Model 1875 Revolver was manufactured from 1875 to 1889 with this example having the scarce factory blue finish. Seldom are these Remington Model 1875s found in blue finish as most were nickel plated. Pinched front sight and frame notch rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." The serial number is marked on the left side of the frame under the grip panel. A lanyard ring is mounted on the butt. Fitted with smooth grips featuring the caliber marking "44 W" on the left grip panel. The Remington Model 1875 was intended to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver and it proved to be a well-designed and popular handgun. Remington manufactured an estimated 25,000-30,000 Model 1875 revolvers before production ceased in 1889.

Fine. The revolver retains 40% plus bright original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The grips are very fine with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A very desirable blued finish 44-40 Remington Model 1875!
