A rare Aztec incensario fragment from Mexico, c. AD 1400 - 1500, this rare adorno represents a ball court ring with intricate floral design referring to Xochipilli, the Aztec god of flowers, music and dance as well as the patron of the ballgame. The design is neatly incised and highlighted with black pigment. H: 2 1/2 in. Good mineral deposits. Mounted. Ex Chicago estate.
