Manufactured in 1895, this is the lightest in weight and shortest in length variant of the Model 1885. Has a light standard fifteen inch barrel with a pinned German silver blade front sight and a ladder rear sight with the two line address ("MANUFACTURED BY THE / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN U.S.A.-" ) ahead of the rear sight and "44 WCF" at the breech. The lower tang has the 1879 patent date and serial number, with the upper tang correctly unmarked. The left side of the receiver has a saddle ring stud with ring. Plain forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. Single shot carbines were not popular and did not compete successfully with Winchester's repeaters, consequently they are rare.
