Rare Anti-Communist Poster. 1933, issue
Rare Anti-Communist Poster. 1933, issued by Dr. Alfred Hugenberg, head of the "Green Shirts." He was President of Krupp, member of Reichstag from 1920, and Chairman of German National People's Party. This powerful poster, in black, red, and white, 241/2 x 34, printed on one side, in Berlin, entered the hectic electioneering campaign of 1933 in Germany. Hugenberg's powerful media, political, and financial connections influenced him to think he could control the Nazi Party. His financial backing of the Nazis earned him a seat in Hitler's first cabinet in 1933, but he resigned after six months and his party was dissolved. He remained a member of the Reichstag. Poster urges "Decision is yours...Vote List 5 - War Front Black-Red-White." Hugenberg's campaign aimed at Communists, Socialists, and the Versailles Treaty. On verso, three small archive handstamps. Fine and rare.
