BENIN BRONZE Warrior Chiefs PLAQUE
The Benin Kingdom was strong through out the 15th and 16th Centuries and was located in West Africa bordering what is now Nigeria and Togo. Benin Clans were ruled by a King which was known as the Oba and who was the divine ruler of the Benin people. The people of Benin are called Bini and are descended from the Ife peoples. The making of these Benin bronzes were strictly considered court art and were made exclusively for the palace of the Oba. The Palace of Benin that occupied about half of Benin City, had wooden columns for roof supports. These wooden columns were decorated with these rectangular bronze plaques, many of which depicted life at court in the Benin palace. The holes through these plaques show where they were nailed to the columns. It was usual for the two edges of the plaque to be folded around the rectangular timber roof supports. This old Benin bronze plaque shows three warrior chiefs surrounded by supporting figures which are much smaller, this is a good representation of the social perspective of the Benin, the supporters were much smaller in stature because they were less important socially than the warrior chiefs. 14.00x11.00x3.00 inches

Bidding on any item indicates your acceptance of these terms listed below and all other terms announced at the time of sale. For your satisfaction: We offer an Appraisal by GLA or CRG laboratory in Los Angeles California on Silver, Gold , Platinum items as well as Loose Gemstones and Fine Watches (A Complete & Detailed Evaluation for a reduced rate of 50% off) ***We do not allow Picking-up of Merchandise due to the security nature of our business and our Fine Art & Jewelers Block Insurance which does not allow an open to the public business structure. In exceptional cases we may approve a pick-up of merchandise after reviewing the shipping companies credentials and review of the official Estimate/Quote on Shippers Letterhead. We have No RETURN/EXCHANGE/CREDIT policies available (under certain very restrictive situations you may request permission from management. All sales are final. There are no cancellations, returns or refunds. Under certain circumstances, we may make an exception and allow a cancellation, re-listing, return, merchandise exchange or approve a bidding credit at our discretion. Bidders may not return items without our official permission and will be provided a special address to ship items back. In most cases we will provide the shipping label. However, in these cases a 20% re-stocking fee is charged and the Buyer's Premium, Taxes/Credit Card Charges as well as Shipping & Insurance Cost will not be refunded. In other words, we will not accept the opinion of a neighborhood local Mom & Pop Shop or any other single entity that is in direct or indirect competition in terms of sales or appraisals. All sales are final. Occasionally you may notice that a previously won item is re-listed. This can be due to a variety of reasons such as a winning bidder in a previous auction did not pay for the item, a fraudulent payment transaction occurred or we may carry multiple types of the same item or the reserve was not met, or there was an technical error. Please thoroughly read any and all accompanied documentation before bidding. Appraisal values are based on Retail Replacement for the Beverly Hills Marketplace where the laboratory is located. These types of evaluations are written for insurance needs. This would be the cost to replace the item with an item of equal quality and kind, considered to be the current market price or the replacement value. This type of appraisal is done to protect you in the event of damage or loss of a valuable item. Our appraisals are conducted by and independent 3rd Party appraisal firm that utilizes Certified GIA Gemologist, if more information is needed you are welcome to contact them directly: CRG Laboratory - cs@certifiedraregems.com or GLA – cs@gemlabamerica.com. Appraisals should be used for verification of gemstone and/or metal weight, size, and grade only, not actual value. Appraisal value should be considered for insurance purposes only, not actual value, as price varies greatly from retail locations through-out the world. Items should not be purchased with the expectation to re-sell for appraisal price or for profit. We Reserve the Right to Reject or Limit any bid(s). We reserve the right to enforce a decision to refuse any bid, withdraw a Lot, determine a successful bidder, to cancel a sale, re-offer and re-sell an item in dispute, is conclusive, absolute and final. Lots in this sale are offered subject to a reserve. The reserve is a confidential minimum price, below which the lot will not be sold in accordance to the agreement between the Consignor and CC Digital, Inc.
