Both sides of the barrel flat are marked "2D QUALITY", indicating this revolver had some sort of casting flaw during production and is one of the approximately 4,402 other revolvers with the same marking Smith & Wesson sold at a discounted rate. Fine. 30% original blue finish remains on the barrel strong in protected areas the balance has thinned to a mottled gray patina exhibiting isolated pin prick pitting around the breech. The frame retains 95% original silver plating with some brass beginning to be exposed on high edges and showing some mild handling marks scattered. The grips are fine and may have an additional coat of varnish applied some time ago. Overall a fine and rare variation of a 1st model 2nd issue.
