Rare 28ga Darne French double-barrel shotgun with sliding breech, 25-1/2” barrels, 41-1/2” overall, weighing only 6lbs. Choked Modified (left) and Cylinder (right) for field use. The gun remains in fine to excellentcondition, 98-99% plus original blue, nicely engraved receiver in floral and scroll pattern with French grey finish. The light colored walnut stocks are also fine to excellent with a horn forend cap, roundedpistol grip, and hardruber buttplate. The gun shows double-triggers, and the Darne automatically extracts when the action is release and pulled back by a spring-loaded thumb lever, which is the Darne patent. Thestock measures approx. 14-7/8” to the end of the wood, 15” to the end of the buttplate. A very limited number were made in 28ga. We have seen only a few in the last 40 years and none in better condition. Est: $3,000 -6000
