Rare, newspaper from the early 19th Century, over 200 years old, dated Wednesday July 27, 1814. New York Evening Post, printed at No 40 Pine Street. Founded originally by Alexander Hamilton. 4pgs filled with news of the day, including the latest on The War of 1812, interesting advertisements, stage coach, steam boat & sailing ship schedules. * plenty of foxing & toning due to age, but still a very readable newspaper, an interesting window into the past.  *** The "Post" was founded in 1801 as the New-York Evening Post by Alexander Hamilton (1755/57 - 1804), one of the authors of the Federalist Papers (1787 / 1788) and first secretary of the Treasury of the United States (1789–1795). William Coleman (1766 – 1829) was the first editor.
