Rare 20 July Wound Badge in Silver, with Case

Named for the 20 July Plot, in which a bomb planted by Claus von Stauffenberg detonated in the conference room of the Rasterburg Headquarters, the 20 July Wound Badge was only issued to the 24 men who in the room with Hitler when the bomb went off. Serving as a substitute or parallel award to the standard Wound Badge, the Silver 20 July Badge was awarded to men who had already earned the Black Wound Badge, had suffered dismemberment or mild brain damage during the bombing, or suffered their first badge-worthy injury in the blast and later suffered enough harm to move them up to the next class of badge. Silver construction, with the stahlhelm and crossed swords moved upward to make space for the raised text "20.JULI/1944" over a replica of Hitler's signature, and a smooth back marked "800/2" under the hinged pin. With an unmarked black leatherette case.
