This is a very rare 1881 string-bound manuscript portfolio about a black (brown) native ("criollo") slave named José. The seal of the Junta of "Patrocinatos" (slavery group) of Matanzas is present. There is also a very rare document of the "Junta Centrale Protectora de Libertos" (The Protectorate Junta of Freed Slaves) stating Jose is in the charge of José Arenciba, the latter originally from the Canary Islands - note scarce Police Revenue stamp on this document. The redemption "redencion" (freedom) of the slave Jose is the subject of this manuscript.
