Rare 1934 K-Date "S/42" Code Nazi Luger with Matching Magazine and Spectacular (K-Date) 1934 Dated Holster

This is a rare example of an excellent original 1934 Mauser production, "K" date "S/42" code military Luger pistol with an original matching magazine and 1934 dated black leather holster. The "K Date" P.08 Lugers were manufactured in 1934 and represent the very first German Army Luger contract pistol. The "K" date was the first secret wartime code that was intended to conceal Germany's rearmament in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. These early Wehrmacht P.08 pistols have an extremely low survival rate as almost all saw extensive service use. An example in original condition are among the most desirable Nazi Luger pistols. This example is classified as a Sub-Variation 2 that has the mixed script and gothic markings. There were only 3,550 of this variation manufactured out of the estimated 10,930 K-date Luger pistols. These pistols are found in the 1,700-5,250 serial number range, putting this example about in the middle of the production. This example has the standard Script "K" date mark on the chamber with the mixed Script/Gothic "S/42" on the front toggle. It has standard military marked serial number on the major parts and the mixed Script/Gothic proofmarks. The right side of the barrel extension has the Script "S/early boxed "O/37" acceptance stamps as used by the Mauser factory along with the single Eagle firing proof, and the left side of the barrel extension numbered "2663". The underside of the barrel is numbered "2663" and the left side of the barrel has the single "boxed O/37" acceptance proof and a small single Eagle firing proof on the right side. Fitted with a set of walnut grips, with the left one correctly numbered (63), while the right side is unnumbered. The inside of the right panel has the penciled marking "Weatherly/37054377" and "Weatherly" scratched into the grip below that. The pistol has a Type 1 Army magazine with a nickel plated body with an aluminum base stamped with a "Gothic/S over 2663/+/O/37" acceptance proof. Accompanied by an equally scarce all black leather 1934 dated Luger holster. The back side is stamped "LEDERWERKE/KARL ACLVAAG/BAD KRUEZNACH/1934/WaA436".

Stock:
Guage: 9 mm Luger

Very fine as partially refinished (side plate). The balance of the pistol retains 80% of the faded blue finish remaining with some edge and high spot wear. The correct side plate is professionally refinished. The various small parts retain 70% of their straw colors overall. The grips are very fine with some minor handling wear and crisp checkering. The holster is excellent plus with a few light scuffs and sharp markings. As noted this scarce K-date Luger has all matching numbers to include one magazine. K-date Lugers are the most sought after of all Mauser Lugers with few nice examples known!
